It really has nothing to do with inconvience, it has to do with doing something illegal because you think you require special treatment. "Wow... look at that sportbike... he think he's so freakin' special he can park on the sidewalk." It perpetuates a stereotype.
What about parking a Miata on the sidewalk as long as it isn't inconviencing anyone? It's really no different.
