very true. i've read of some people who's houses were damaged from Huricane Katrina losing over $15,000 worth of livestock and equipment to flooding.
that being said, if you are really frugal and check classifieds on craigslist and forums very often, you can start a smaller, but equally sweet reef tank on a sub-$300 budget.
