Does the government pay for graduate school and then give you a higher pay when you complete it?

i've had this conversation with my former employer at DoS. He essentially had his graduate school paid for, but he had to dedicate x number of years per year of school. I'm not sure if that is based on years or money spent, but there is somewhat of a contract you must agree to that involves more time working for the federal government.

Generally when you graduate you move positions to one that will take advantage of the advanced degree (usually this is more pay).

BTW - Good Job Maeng!! Moving up quick in the General Grade is a true accomplishment, especially starting at 5.
