Seems like you guys are arguing over two different endgames. You can build a project to bring the car to its zenith with no budgetary restraints a la Sport Compact Car or build a project with budget/timeline with the expectation to race a la GrassRoots Motorsports. One is not better than the other, just different goals/philosophies. I don't think DJ is going to track his DSM so he doesn't really have a timeline, whereas RJ is building for racing so he wants to get out there first and foremost, so he's not going to go all out and blow his budget which includes expensive tracktime/consumables that DJ doesn't have to factor into his budget.
