Go 2dr, not 4. The 4dr is not only slightly heavier, but it messes up the weight distrubution, which as I have learned with the miata is the most important factor in balance and handling. (moreso even than drive wheels)
The biggest drawback to the car is its weight. ~3200 lb at the lightest.
If I ever get one, I plan on gutting it, and doing whatever cheap lightening I can, but even so the car is heavy. Even the M3 LTW was still a hair under 3000lb, and it had aluminum doors and other expensive stuff.
