It's going to suck if you need to have your system recharged - most places won't mess with freon.
Edit - The difference between a cold AC and warm air can be a couple PSI of coolant - the AC at our old house had a slow leak in it. Every year, we had to pay about $50 to have ~2 PSI of coolant put into the system (I think it held 30 something total) - without those couple PSI it would blow warm air, but with it it was ice cold all year.
