harness mounting

so my 6 pt harnesses are almost installed in the miata. i was going to put the bolts for the sub harness (points 5 and 6) where the seat attaches to the body, but that bolt is too short for the tab and seat bracket. my question is, can i just wrap the harness around the front of the seat bracket since its main purpose is basically to hold the center of the harnesses around your pelvis?
