That's a good idea. I find cosmoline or regular old wd40 is a little less messier. Also, I don't exactly know what you're talking about in terms of what suspension parts you're taking out, but I can't think of many suspension parts that can be removed without affecting the wheel's clearance inside the fender.
Junkyard guys will come and get anything, it doesn't to have wheels. Strip everything that you want and call around to see who would be willing to pickup some free scrap metal. Rex and Dave did that with their Prelude, Danny and I did that with a 944. In the 944's case, it was a shell with the front half of the car cut off and they still agreed to pick it up.
