Maengelito Wrote:nick, how tall are you? 172's seem a bit short for me but then again, i'm no expert. i used my bro's 190s for a season which seemed like they were a bit too long but i liked them. how much are decent boots and bindings these days? i havent bought skis in ages

172's are actually a pretty good size. I have 170's right now and i bought them specifically shorter since i was on JMU ski racing team last year. Slalom racing kicks ass! i think 190+ is really pushing it unless you really want the challenge or if you ski very powerfully and at high speeds. 175-178 would be a good length for someone about 6' less than or near 200 lbs. 180 is even fine for 6' and moderate to good skiing experience.

From what i hear for the Volant's they're pretty stable and sound skis. My preference still lie with Fischer, Atomic, Dynastar, and Volkl for skis. Lange for boots, and Marker for bindings.

NEW decent boots and bindings will run about $350 total. That's also a high estimate, you can find deals even this early since they're trying to get rid of their old stock before the new stuff starts to come in.

w00t, i'm about to buy my new poles (old ones are pretty bent), but the new one's will be bent anyway....this time on purpose Wink
