Maybe the answer is that it can rev, it just doesnt need to for the applications its used in?
Although it sure would be nice if the 2.5L STi revved to 8k like the 2.0L STi does. It uses the 2.0 STi gears, which means it runs out of revs really quick.
I do know that turbocharging the N/A 2.5L rarely turns out well. Not many 2.5RS guys who turboed their cars had their engines last very long
Porsche motors sure can rev to the moon, so the H layout wouldnt appear to have any shortcoming in that department.
Rex, it sounds like you need to build up a N/A 2.5 subaru.
