Well I guess I could give a writeup of how my first track weekend went. Simply put, it was greaaaaat!
The perfect weather, people, and nothing going wrong with the car all added up for a great weeekend. It was a real pleasure sharing the track with Chris, Andy, John, Jess, and I believe Lindsay (s13 240). It was quite obvious that the MM group did not have their heads up their ass's like certain people in our classroom. I was a little worried in the class when some people were over analyzing everything and talking like they are F1 drivers.
I thought the classroom sessions were pretty helpful, Bob Okenford (?) really did a good job of explain certain things and really got me to calm my nerves.. Just wish people didn't think it was story time so we could have learned more..
Now about the driving, a bit nervous (actaully a whole chit load) and after meeting my instructor I was a bit timid. My instructor was Rick Poage (i believe thats his last name), owns a C4 Vette. I really have no clue why I was worried by this, but I was. Once we got on the track, after the 1st session he really got my nerves calmed and really worked with me to get apex's and tracking out.
After the first day I was feeling pretty good, my instructor really helped me out and kind of talked me up a little. Dont know if he was really being serious or just trying to calm me down, but whatever it helped!
Day 2 was just as fun, after a rough 1st session I was really starting to get consistent of nailing the apex's and tracking out. We practiced some late braking and going into Turn 4 "flat". I think I even suprised my instructor with a lil' Heel-Toe action
Last session got solo'd, which was a bit nerve wrecking but interesting. Got some really open space on the track and tried to work on braking differently w/o the added weight and correcting myself on mistakes w/o an instructor in the car. 120 MPH down the backstraight is money
I couldn't ask for more!
some other highlights/cliffnotes of my weekend..
- almost yacking after getting a ride with my instructor
- of course Vixens, schoolgirl chick was sooo money
- getting a point by from a supercharged Cobra
big ups to MM members, thanks for helping out the track n00b with my dumb questions. Workers, cant do it without you and your room
