Justice William Brennan married into my dad's family tree (via his 2nd wife, Mary Fowler). I watched a couple of Redskins games at his place in Crystal City, very late in his life.
It was interesting to wade through protestors at his funeral in '97. The seating arrangement at the church went something like:
... Hillary, Pres. Clinton --- Aisle --- Secret Service, Dad, Me ...
And of course, he was one of the most liberal justices ever
