Really, we're just trying to help, Feersty.
For example: My aborted SBC 944 project. I really, really wanted this. I mean, really bad. It is, in my mind, the quentissential definition of cool. Small car, great handling, great marque, rear mounted transaxle and a whole pile of cubes.
And really, for a reasonable price, only around 5-6 grand.
I can't afford it. I mean, I could go to the bank, borrow 6 thousand dollars, and have me and my (tomorrow) wife eat ramen noodles, peanut butter and GV Macaroni and Cheese for the next 3 years. We could have done it.
Instead, I put every POSSIBLE expense I could have with the car, combined it with my income (minus expenses) and said "Well then. Let's look at something else."
An M3 is gonna run the same way. That's part of the reason so many people modify cheap cars. You've got a low entry cost AND if something fucks up, you've got money to pay for it. We're just looking out for you. Nobody wants you in a buick (or an S-10). We all want to see you with a sporty ride.
