Since its inception, the Impreza has been engineered for as the foundation for a WRC rallycar. (to replace the Legacy that Subaru used at the time) Performance Imprezas (ie- WRX and up) have always made up more than 80% of their sales, and the car simply wasnt built as an econobox and then added crap to it.
In my personal opinion, the Impreza chassis is much stiffer, more responsive, and has less bump steer and handling quirks than the EVO.
