i think they are both fine cars, but mitsu motors has been in the shitter for some time. mitsu heavy industries wont be going anywhere, but there motors division has been tanking steadily. fuji heavy industries (suby's parent company) builds aircraft engines and all sorts of equipment in japan. that gives me some confidence in their design. the STi's understeer is horrendous, but nothing a bigger rear bar cant solve. i hear all sorts of horror stories about the evo's tranny being like glass, but dont have any concrete evidence to back that up. i figure thats just ricers doing a 7k clutch dump at every stop light and then wondering why their tranny is shot. the STi's 6 speed i believe is a porsche designed getrag tranny and i figure porsche designers might have a slight clue on what theyre doing. i've read a shit ton of reviews comparing the evo and STi and it seems like the evo wins in laptimes but all the editors have chosen the STi when asked to pick between the two. just my two cents from an extremely biased viewpoint.
