Allow myself to introduce,

Yeah, yeah Dave. Just tell me who to give my dues cash too.

Yes, the more I began to study the KA, the more I liked it over the SR. I mean, closed deck iron block, oil cooled pistons, 4 valve cross flow head, decent aftermarket, high availablilty of parts...Show me a better turbo platform. My boost plans are unknown as of yet. A guy offered me an SAFC for 80 bucks, and if he's not joking, I don't know what I'll run. I'll need some kind of air/fuel controller to run the Q45 mafs, and if I have an AFC, I can run larger injectors, and pratically infinite boost. And I mean shit. I paid 100 bucks for this engine, and I am thinking about buying a spare for another 100. If I blow it up, it's not like they're gonna be hard to find.

I would also be running either a big fat-ass front mount or an Air/Water intercooler along with probably a water/ethanol injection system into the throttle body as a safety net. If the KA has a weak point, it's that it MUST NOT detonate, as I'll destroy my rings in pretty short order. But to start, I'm thinking 6 or 7 PSi and tune up. And as far as compression, it's either 9 or 9.5 to 1, but if I'm going to rebuild it, I may just save a little money and do 8.5 to 1 low comp pistons. I'll definitely do that if I have to bore it, because 8.5 overbore is just as expensive as stock comp overbores pistons, and if I need new pistons anyway...

Plus, when you blow up a KA, it's almost never catastrophic. Most of the time the rings go, and you need new rings, or you spin a bearing.. I've never heard of anything really crazy, like a rod through the side or anything like that.

And yes, turbo KA's make disgusting torque numbers. All of the SR advocates whine and bitch about the long stroke, but for me, a 7k redline is perfectly OK as long as there's a big fat boost curve underneath it. (which there is)

Plus, if my math is right, I can have a quasi-reliable 220hp/250tq car for under 1500.

Do that with an SR. And when your done, let me know how much it was to ship your damn water pump from japan.
