It's what a good transmission mechanic would use, its not expensive and there is no reason not to use it over RTV - why take the risk? Just trying to help out, in the SHO world its considered a common mistake.

At least my brakes are done, and passenger seat mounted. Tomorrow, header, pedals and harnesses.

Hey, your car, go for it. As long as no RTV gets squished inside the seal then it'll be fine.

There's nothing wrong with "interweb mechanics" if they have done the work in question multiple times and it has been verified by other people as correct.
