The V-twin is not so much the point of failure as it is the other components. Cracked transmission casings, bad welds, and other knick knacks are what I hear about Buells. Get on DCsportbikes.net and ask around, there might be some current or former owners that can give you the scoop.
I agree with you on the stying, very unique and futuristic. Some people don't like them but then again some people don't like the Ducati 749/999 either.
Don't really know why Yamahahas are cheaper. They're not crap bikes that's for sure. If you got an R6 I don't think you'd be disappointed.
