You probably do not have an LSD.

On an S14, you must have ABS to have an LSD. It was an option on non-se's and standard on most SE's. I think. But if you have an S14, you can check on the placard under the hood. Look at the model number (18 digits, not the VIN) and:

For Feb '94 - July '95: A, C, or E, = LSD
F, or "-" = NO LSD

For July '95 - July '96: A, C, or F = LSD
B, D, or "-" = NO LSD

not sure when it was made or which digit in the model no. i'm supposed to look for. if its the last digit, then mine ends in "-"

Lift car off ground.

With transmission in neutral, spin one wheel by hand and the other spins the same direction. Both wheels spin very freely.

With transmission in gear (driveshaft fixed), the wheel is much more difficult to spin, plus the other wheel rotates in the OPPOSITE direction.

with tranny in neutral, only one wheel spins. the other does not. with tranny in gear, one wheel spins, the other spins the opposite direction.

So you say you want an LSD, Maeng?

It's pretty simple.

You have 4 options.

1. Buy an aftermarket. Quaife and Kaaz both make diffs for the 240, but for the Quaife you'll have to buy the 300ZX NA diff. It's the same.
2. Find a car with an LSD and buy the LSD stuff. Not likely to happen and it will probably be beat up.
3. Get a 300ZX NA diff. You'll need to source VLSD halfshafts with this option. The 300ZX are a 5-bolt pattern, your 240 is a 3 pairs of two bolts.
4. Buy a differential from a 95+ Infiniti J30. They all had LSD's, so there's no getting an open diff by accident, they were less likely to be abused, they're cheap, and they have the proper 3 pair of two bolt output shaft pattern. Just make sure you get one post 95. If you have an S14, it'll bolt in no sweat.
