Anyways, about reliability, Blair's right, my GTI when i got it was a little under 90k, with nothing wrong with it, it was almost like new, cept for the normal 90k wear and tear. Everything was the original stock parts. If you take care of it, like the last owner of mine did, it should be very reliable in the long run.
I also know a few friends with 10+ year old VWs and they run well, too.
