There was also an article in the bimmer magazine about 2 months ago.Cooling system needs to be replaced (everything) because it will fail at a bad time.
Suspension bushings, you might get 80k on them before they are worn out and should be replaced, or maybe 100k on them before they start making odd vibrations and noise under the chassis.
Shocks - probably 80-100k also, depending on use, etc.
Trans mounts and shifter - will definately wear out and need replacement.
There are other various odds and ends that will fail... the OBC, the o2 sensor(s), emissions air pumps, electrical bits, etc. Shit happens with those cars - the body and drivetrain are great, but seems like the rest of the stuff doesnt hold up.
Interior can and will fall apart if the car wasnt really cared for (not really an issue for you after the purchase, just be careful who you buy from).
The bottom line is they are great cars if you have the time to put some attention into them on a somewhat regular basis - if you're buying a car with 60-80k on it, then expect to be spending some quality time with it while you own it. If you can afford it, maybe a 98-99 with low miles could avoid a lot of these issue, but it will cost you.
