Anyways I tried getting some people to push it while it was in gear and I was cranking the starter but it didnt work.

Push starting = rolling the car in gear then dumping the clutch.
Did the starter not kick out? How old is the Z? Has it been sitting? Did you just buy this car? If you confirm it's a fuel issue, check to see if you can hear the fuel pump go off. Also check inside the tank itself. When a friend of mine was restoring his 280z turbo, the gas was so rusted that it clogged his pump, his filter and his lines.
