Druid Hills. Do it. It's nice and close to Emory.
Actually I got the opportunity to become more acquainted with that area this summer when I had to spend hours in the medical library. The neighborhood there is nice, like I said, you can't go wrong with Druid Hills, but if you want a house, as in to buy a house, then I hope you make at least 100K because you probably won't find a decent affordable house near Emory, or anywhere else in North Atlanta, for less than $250K, and that's for a shack.
I would search near Clifton Rd, Clairmont Rd, or anything near Decatur. "Downtown" Decatur is really cute, but I would try to stay north and northeast, like Chan and RJ suggest. If you can help it, try to live in an area where you are going against traffic.
Stay away from Chesire Bridge, which is also in that general area, it's like Little Havana.
If you find a place that you guys think you're interested in, let me and Chan know and we can go scope it out, and even send you picts to give you idea of the area.
