Well, that's the problem.  Every day I read in the news about some portion of our democracy, our institutions or our traditions being eroded by the Trump admin - at what point have things gone too far?  Is there a tipping point that is unrecoverable, both for our own gov't or for our international relationships?  If so, where?  Does it end in an election that isnt viewed as legitimate with a peaceful transition of power?  I'm pretty certain the boogaloo patriots with their pocket constitutions wont be storming the streets then because it was never about gun rights.

I'm not even talking about things like shitty economic bills or national health/pandemic response issues - those are policy issues that people will always disagree about.

I used to think the point of no return was close, but I don't anymore. I credit watching Ken Burns's 17 hour special on the Vietnam War twice with that changing perspective. Nearly everything Trump has done that I don't agree with can be undone by the next guy/gal. The one exception might be international relations, which were at an all-time high with Obama. That tells me we can probably get there again. Will there be consequences of his presidency? Certainly. Will the pendulum swing the other way in the next 5-10 years? I think there's a good chance. The bigger problem for me is what it's always been - I don't particularly like either parties' modern incarnation.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
