Studs, worked well for my pot holder. Going to cut out a small bit of drywall to be damn sure I'm centered on it and mount it directly onto them. Not really going to be repelling just standing on a steep roof with the window sill in one hand, brush in the other. The alternative is to buy a 40ft ladder for one side and spend a few hours trying to the level the other side.
