Official MM Firearms Thread
CaptainHenrehAre you suggesting that 45acp is somehow safer? I don't think data really supports your position. Anything with enough energy to sufficiently penetrate a sack of meat is gonna make real short work of drywall that's just physics my guy.

For optics, my "fun guns" have almost exclusively SIG red dots based on a really excellent customer service interaction I had. Anything for social purposes has either Trijicon or Meprolight... Something built to a military standard for durability. (Although FBI HRT uses sig red dots too, soooo)

Yeah I know drywall isn't stopping shit, I was thinking more along the lines of a stud/front door/appliance. Been a while since I really dove into the subject but looks like 45ACP penetrates just as well as most 9mm ammo, when it comes to ballistic gel at least. Color me surprised, I might have to reconsider that approach. 5.56 vs any pistol ammo is obviously more cut and dry. That's just a lot of powder for something just across the room. Granted if you're not an idiot (like me), train regularly and really want superior firepower, I certainly agree with you that nothing really beats an AR-15 all around.
