He's right to think of it as a % of all purchases, but the outcome really depends on spending habits. Looks like the CSR is about 6% on travel and dining, which is probably 1/3 of our spending. The blended rates probably aren't that much different than 2.1%.
I've had very mixed results with Priority Pass. Alaska Air, which has a couple lounges at SEA, withdrew from the program a year ago. There are two lounges that still participate there, but they are never near our gate (almost always fly Alaska) and/or they close to PP members "during busy times." You won't know until you show up, which is annoying. It was awesome during our recent layover in LHR.
Clear is life changing. Seems so shitty to pay to cut the line... but TSA pre check lines are the longest lines at SEA. Saving 30 min in line with a 3 y/o is worth the $99/year ($179 normally, but $99 with a free Delta Skymiles account). I got over the guilt pretty quick before my four month free trial was over.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
