Longevity? Do diesels still last longer than gas motors (more miles) or are they about even now

I think the cost of ownership outweighs the longevity benefit. I have a friend in the commercial landscaping business who was in charge of his companies fleet (80+ vehicles) and they were switching back to gas trucks, even 250s/350s because they are cheap to maintain. Even big companies like Brightview (acquired Brickman) are moving to gassers.
