also,  cargo volume is a stupid metric to crosshop.  Most of it is in the taller roof of the SUV,  so unless you regularly pack your luggage to the roof,   cargo footprint is a lot more important.  

yeah, i also found that. When i cross shopped a Golf R and a 328i xDrive wagon the cargo capacities are almost identical, however when you actually see the cars back to back it's quite different (the wagon was clearly more in terms of usability).
