You didn't directly answer the question, but your premise is simply not true. Farmers can measure moisture content of crops by the acre, do mechanized GPS based harvesting, no till, drill seeding,etc etc. Yes I know you're going to point to some shit ass almond farm in California for some anecdata, but you can't stand on an assumption that farms don't want to use their resources efficiently. We are effectively the breadbasket of the world. I can't stand the subsidies that are put into farming, but the Dems are as guilty of that as the reps are to subsidizing oil (which also damn near has us being the fossil fuel breadbasket of the world as of late)
