Front load. Leave door open. Probably opt out of pedestals. I have top of the line lg front load on pedestals. From Costco. It really comes down to what the service support is in the area. Unfortunately, we have issues with the pedestals causing extreme vibration on the washer and the service tech came out was from 3rd party and had a severe social disorder and basically just talked about airplanes while he was there and how nice my (papermate) pen was. He kept saying the machines I have were so nice and that I should take it off the pedestals and that would fix it. I paid $200 for the pedestal. The only way it's coming off it is if lg is buying it back. Have ge other appliances and they have legit service guys who my two experiences with have been super knowledgeable and helpful.
I got them at Costco though so 4 year warranty so if anything happens because of the off balance problem, I'm covered for awhile. Part of the problem might be the drain pan too since it hits the bottom of the pedestal. May try it without it one day and see if that helps.
Steam functions are stupid. The dryer one doesn't get hot enough so it basically just squirts water all over the clothes in the dryer and even to the point that it drops out the bottom. It's a known problem on internet but no solution since the heater doesn't get water hot enough. May try and hook it to the hot water line and see if any better results. I bought the top of the line because they were 5.2 cu ft which I thought would be nice for dog beds and King bedding and stuff. Kind of regret it.
Not really sure about the washer steam function. Don't mess with it too much.
