This is key as i understand it. My in-laws front loader smells terrible despite how many times i ran the cleaning powder and settings through it.
The washer we have now has this problem. Removing the filter (after removing a screwed on cover, which appears to be bent AF and is a pain to take on/off - probably why it was never cleaned) was like opening a sewer line, it was awful. Replacing the door seal and running multiple cycles of vinegar through only temporarily fixes it. Coupled with the fact that it doesnt do a great job cleaning, and the dryer does a shit job of drying, they have to go. It doesnt put me off front loaders, but it does give me pause to think about what we ought to be doing. So far I'm not convinced to get a top loader.
I'm convinced the previous owner of the house hadnt actually lived in the house for years because no sane person would tolerate the kind of shit we've found.
