We have a front loading top of the line GE. It's got all those steam cleaning and fancee settings for different things. I love it because it's brainless and the wife loves it because she has a lot of control over how to wash things. She really likes that it'll toss clothes on a timer to avoid any smells if you don't get to the load for a day. It's been fantastic with a kid. Life is fine with a basic machine, but life was also fine with a flip phone. Smell has not been an issue; we leave the door open when not in use. The only annoyance is the door isn't reversible on the washer and we had to put it on the inconvenient side because that's where the water and sewage was.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
