I still greatly prefer top load, don't have to put it on a pedestal or deal with moldy door seals. Our LG top loader w/o agitator has been performing flawlessly for 6 years with two kids and now a baby in cloth diapers 
The only thing that stops a bad guy with a van is a good guy with a van
