It depends on what you mean by "worth it"
Despite the miata curb weight creeping up gradually, the miata is still really lightweight. The new generation cars are quite comfy.
Performance wise, 178hp is'nt stellar, but when you take into account the amount of area under the curve that a turbocharger gives you combined with the light weight and stellar suspension and handling of the miata, the car will be very very quick.
And then of course there is the very very easy and cheap power to be had in a turbocharged car.
Can it beat the $5k more expensive S2k? Probably not the 2.2L, but it should be able to keep up respectfully.
Add a little 'mo b00st and the Honda pile can suck its own vtec :p
