I honestly don't know where stratification gets us. Maybe if we didn't have as much information as we did, we wouldn't care how much money anyone else has. I think it'll always happen as long no one has invented replicators. As long as the value of goods exists, humans will find ways to hoard a way to obtain them. That is, unless there's some spiritual awakening like... say... realizing there is other life in the universe OR automation drives the cost of goods to fractional levels. Who knows... maybe I just smoke too much weed.
