If you're ever going for a range trip in NoVa, give me a shout.
Best advice I can give you: before any gear/accessories purchase, & before you burn through ammo & lane rental fees practicing by yourself - take a class with a qualified instructor. You'll save a lot of time and money getting the basics down quickly (sight picture/alignment, grip, trigger control, stance, etc.) instead of spinning your wheels.
Ex: here's a solid instructor I've taken several classes with who covers all of the above well, and also goes into mindset and the law of using deadly force if you ever need to defend yourself with your pistol (very important to know this stuff). I can point you towards several others I've had great experiences with.

Once you get comfortable with these early stages, you can grow further into other topics including "shooter first aid" and others. Ignore 95% of the gear and weapon accessories out there for now & just focus on learning.
