Use tax?
I know what you meant, I just like to stir the pot since it's a hot topic for our highway infrastructure right now.
Yeah I mean, I think that would be a cool experiment. Either have a usage tax with everything, or everything is privately owned and people set the price. Liberistan would be the freest place on Earth. Or the most lawless or something.
I'm 100% down with a use tax... but that doesn't fly with liberals because it's not equitable (read: regressive).
I say excuse things like food, clothes, housing from use tax and the playing field is a whole lot more level.
I'm no fan of taxes (ie. lean more Rex's way) but I get that they need to be collected to make the world go round. I really like this idea specifically. Americans are vain and love to spend our money on luxuries or useless crap to fill up our homes. Take advantage of that but my Lord, ease up on the taxes on every other thing I do in my life. It's suffocating.
I just paid over $5,600 in various federal and state taxes on one paycheck today.... and that pales in comparison to what I was forking out in my days of heavy commissions. Come on man, I'm gonna get taxed again on the box of tissues I need to go buy to wipe my nose from ugly-crying myself to sleep tonight (just kidding, I'm gonna shop Speedmasters online so I can avoid sales tax
)
