Mattis just resigned. 



this is the opposite of good.  he was a legit Adult In the Room and had actual tact and a lifetime of indispensible knowledge.  he laid down some pretty professional level "eat shit, you're hopeless" lines in the letter that tell the reality of what's going on.

Trump tweets that he's "retiring", likely because he's functionally retarded and tweets subconsciously while absorbing Fox news into his pores in the tanning booth.  even worse, i'm not sure i want to know who slots into Mattis's position now.

I was actually coming here to say basically this, but not as eloquently, so glad someone else got here first.  This is bad news.  Mattis was absolutely the only one trying to keep the orange man from running is straight into war.  A lot of people think that pulling out of Syria was the last straw. That Mattis finally got tired of us pissing off the Allies we need or at least could use.  But any way you cut it, this is terrible horrible news, and I'm currently very sorry for the US Military.
