that's what we did. our kitchen was a very blue (90s paint/wooden countertop on an original 1975 cabinets) kitchen, but it worked. i'd just fix the little crap first. there's nothing more irritating than dealing with small problems. i can't imagine dealing with full kitchen reno AND the small problems...
in the first 3 months of our home the dishwasher went and was fixed ($60 copay on the included home warranty) and the water lateral broke/leaked ($2k repair). luckily we avoided more issues.
