Ha that company is a hot mess man.  I thought the Germans were generally on top of things.  I still stand by my belief that they make great cars to lease, awful cars to own

The Germans tend to make cars that are built in a more complex way but are better to drive as a result.

It's important to keep in mind that for all of the random little stuff Taylor has had wrong with his Mk7 GTI, Joey has owned two that have required... oil changes. Other friends of mine have also had positive experiences with them.
