I’ve always wanted one of these because I feel like if it’s good enough for the military it should be good enough for me. I don’t know how much I’d ever carry this gun, but I like it. It’s big, it’s heavy, it has a safety (which I’m not used to), but I may keep it as a truck gun for days in the woods or something. First trigger pull (double action) is heavy and long, but 2nd and subsequent are smooth as butter. I may sel my Ruger P89DC since I don’t need two full size 9mm guns.
$400 is an ok deal. Not amazing or anything, but pretty good.
It's a decent enough pistol. I'm of the opinion that dropping block designs were obsolete somewhere around the spring of 1945, but whatever, it's fine. The safety sucks, everyone I know who carried one for social purposes used the safety as a decocker only. When you flip the gun to safe it decocks the hammer, and if you flip it back to fire you've got your double action, but no high-as-giraffe-pussy safety to fiddle with. This is so common that Beretta sells the "decocker only" lever to turn your 92fs into a 92g. Other than that ergonomic issue they're fine. The only reason Uncle Sugar got rid of them is because it was cheaper to buy P320's than it was for them to overhaul their broken 92's.
I'd say hit me up re: your Ruger because that gun is great for living in gloveboxes and consoles, but you'll probably get more money (if more hassle) from someone else.
