I'm in a very small majority, but I thought RDR1 was pretty boring. I quit playing after I got sick of walking/riding around interacting with random things. I get the draw is the open world but that's not something I enjoy, especially in what felt like an unnecessarily spread out landscape. YMMV.
This is a pretty fair criticism. You'd definitely have to "like" the idea of exploring the west.
The story however is very compelling, a very "anti western" that I really enjoyed. RDR1, I mean. I've caught destinyflu again, so I'll play RDR2 when it's $20. Not gonna miss anything doing that.
