And with the house on the market now 5 days I'm starting to get a little worried. 

Uh you're good dude, try two months with only one lowball offer and carrying two mortgages.  Our HOA fees jumped to $300 / month due to widespread water damage throughout the neighborhood so nobody wanted to touch it even though it's in an incredible area.  Just super glad the buyer came along when they did, what's odd is that it's sat vacant for over 2 years.  I knew they were buying as an investment but they didn't even try to rent it out.  My wife's old flower planters are still hanging on the deck.

Does this happen a lot? There are two or three houses in my neighborhood that have been sitting vacant for a while now...

Are they Chinese?  Lot cheaper to park their money here...

They were British and lived in a country club about a half mile up the road.  I don't know what their intentions were but the check came from their LLC that was located at their home address.  I'm guessing they just needed a place to park money and it wasn't a bad call.  Zillow says (for what Zillow's worth) that it's gained over $30k since it sold almost exactly 2 years ago.  But again, not including the cost of utilities, any maintenance and property tax, the HOA fees alone would have taken away $7,200 of that potential gain.  I'm just surprised they haven't tried to rent it like every other house in that neighborhood, maybe they just couldn't be bothered to be landlords (I don't blame them)
