What caused you to blow up 4 distributors? That doesn't sound normal...

SO... aftermarket distributors aren't known to take heat well. that's part of the issue... talking with some of the guys that used to race the older distributor based Hondas said "put another ground on it." For sunday, I added a ground from the housing to the chassis and it seemed to help (on the new aftermarket distributor).

Some people director a duct from the headlight to the distributor... but overall its a well known issue. most of the guys have a distributor with an external igniter and coil setup. Not many racers are running stock distributors.
