You want a decent vodka, rye or bourbon, vermouth (sweet + dry), bitters, gin and something nice and aged to drink neat.
you can make simple syrup on your own, herbs in a pot nearby, and some kind of citrus is handy.
My liquor cabinet is uh.... full but I have some stuff that doesnt get used that often.
Ok....so what's your "decent" vodka, rye or bourboun, vermouth, and gin? (bitters, I mean just buy Angostura, don't get complicated)
The pub by us makes a fantastic old fashioned. I asked them for the recipe - turns out the bitters makes a huge difference.
