Front load, leaving the door open is a must and resolves 95% of the funk issue. I'm undecided if people are saying they don't like non agitated top load. Lately I thought I heard those were the best. I don't mine front load except for big things but every load I ever did, I would select the extra water feature to fill the drum more. I still like stuff being submerged though. Like dog beds and our bedding. Just seem to absorb the amount of water a front load uses and I can't imagine it cleaning that effectively after that. I hate agitators though. Maybe because our apartment has shitty units but the agitators destroy our blankets and wrinkle the crap out of my jeans and pants. I can't wait to get a better washer and dryer. I'd go back to front load before getting an agitator again though...at least I think. Hopefully one of you does a scientific study on which is actually best by then.
