When I went to buy a new washer and dryer recently, low and behold the agitators are back. Its definitely a matter of preference, and I'm kinda like JayRay on this one. My Washer and Dryer were like $500 each. They aren't quite bottom of the barrel, they don't have all the bells and whistles either. I need them to wash and dry clothes for 1 adult and 1 Hannah. That's all. Don't over complicate that shit. Also, I had front load units at my town house cause that's all we could use in the space allocated, and it was a freakin joy to leave those suckers when I sold that place. Happy with my old school top load washer, and my run of the mill dryer.
My wife had the same complaint about lack of agitators and front loaders, which is why we ended up with the Maytags. They were one of the only good brands when we shopped that had top loaders with agitators and they are really impressive. SO much quieter than my old Craigslist special GEs
