The other big downside though is that it's crunchy to walk on and turns to like grass clipping dust when you mow near dormancy....that stuff gets EVERYWHERE in the house, garage, cars.
just had to mow our property twice over because it grew so fast during our week on vacation. of course we got about 4 inches of rain too...i need to get my hands on your lazy bermuda because ours is doing its best to grow out of control.
i HATE it in the winter. looks like a yard full of hay and is about the same cleanup. not looking forward to getting it out of our dog's hair every single time it goes out to pee in the winter. but man it feels good under your feet in the summer.

I think the self-propelled mechanism is superior, much easier to use and modulate than similar setups. I still use it for mowing but do the main part of the yard with a zero-turn now.
you really can't. if i could do it again i would have passed up my AWD husquvarna self propelled for a normal 2WD self propelled honda. they have the best small engines in the business. back in the late 90's when i was cutting yards as a teenager for fun money the hondas had great engines but pretty crappy self propel transmissions that would chew up plastic gears, but they've long since figured out how to make them reliable.
anybody using those new Briggs engines that are designed to burn oil so you never have to change it? such a weird concept. can they even sell them in california?
