Well we are officially moved into our new place! 3 bed, 2 bath, all on one level, 2400sqft, sunroom, deck, 2 car garage, little over 1/2 acre and extra storage in crawlspace. Our new house is at the end of a cul-de-sac and there is a horse farm behind us and a cattle farm beside us. We really only have one neighbor who is a retired state trooper. After talking to him, pretty much everyone who lives in the houses on our street are retired, which is perfectly fine with us. We closed at 11am on Wednesday and moved a few things with the truck and trailer that afternoon after cleaning up and coming to terms with the fact that I signed my life away, again.
Thursday morning at 9am I met the movers (3 of them and their truck) at our 15x20 storage unit that was packed full. We filled the truck up once, unloaded at the new house, went back and put all my garage stuff/tools/some master bedroom stuff in it again and came back. Only things they wouldn’t move were my gun safe and gas grill. They were done by 2pm. Best $525 I ever spent. After they left one of my coworkers helped me move my gun safe and ammo box, along with a few other odds and ends. After that me, Sam and my uncle went out to the barn and loaded up all our patio furniture and riding mower. Got back and unloaded about 5pm and unpacked/organized until around 9:30 then we passed out. Woke up this morning at 6am and started again. Went hard until about 7pm, unpacking, placing, picking up the grill, etc. Broke down 3/4 of our boxes, which filled up my entire truck bed, and took them to the recyclers.
We’ve called it quits for the day. The only thing left to organize is the garage. But we accomplished our goal of getting everything to the new house (from my moms, storage, and the farm), so everything that’s left takes place on our property. So far we love the new place. Only future plans are to put up a black chain link fence in the back yard and put in a paver patio/fire pit.
